Our Teachers

At SHEVACH we are blessed to have teachers who live what they teach. Each teacher is advanced on their personal spiritual and creative journey and share the wisdom and craft of living life to the fullest that they have acquired on their path.

RABBI DOCTOR LEIBISH HUNDERT

Our Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Doctor Leibish Hundert, was a close and beloved student of our late Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Sholom Brodt z”l. He received his Rabbinic ordination from HaRav Efraim Greenblatt zt'l, and just recently his PhD from Concordia University. Reb Leibish established and led the McGill University’s “Ghetto Shul” for 11 years, well-known and remembered as one of the most vibrant and impactful college shuls during his time there. Reb Leibish uses his musical talents, great sense of humor and radiant personality to create a profound learning experience.

Yael Dworkin has been the Education and Program Director of Shevach since its establishment in the summer of 2021. Yael has been involved in Jewish education for more than three decades, teaching both young and old alike, and comes to Israel from Montreal, Canada. Her love of Torah and chassidut inspire her to share the depth of Torah, in all its facets, with others who aspire to grow in their Avodat HaShem. Yael has a teachers’ diploma from Bas Yaakov Seminary Montreal, a B.A. in Judaic Studies from McGill University, and has studied in the Masters program in Jewish Education at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Emuna witt halevi

Emuna Witt Halevi  met Reb Shlomo about 43 years ago and has been transcribing his torahs and sharing his teachings for many years. 

She loves to give over Chassidut from Rebbe Nachman, the Holy Slonima, and many other rebbes, with a lot of simcha!

SHEVA CHAYA SHAIMAN

Sheva Chaya Shaiman, originally from Denver Colorado, has an extensive background in art, including a BA from Princeton University, and continuous Torah learning since 1999. Her glassblowing studio in Tzfat has been an inspiration to thousands, for over 15 years. Her goal with her learning, teaching and artwork is to integrate the holy into life with much joy and creativity - as she also does with her 5 children, b”H.

Neria benavi

Before making Aliyah twelve years ago, Neria Benavi taught Jewish Meditation at over 200 Chabad Houses throughout North America, Europe and South Africa. Neria spent many years studying Chassidut in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and worked with Rabbi Simon Jacobson who used to lead the team that memorized the talks of the Lubavitcher Rebbe on Shabbat and Yom Tov. Before becoming a Baalat Teshuva 30 years ago, Neria worked in the film industry in New York. Neria personalizes Torah teachings using meditation and journaling to help process the ideas in one’s intuitive mind and heart.

Gitty Porgesz

Dance Beyond Limits

Gitty is a Chassidic woman ,oved hashem ,proud creative mother of 6 ke"h.

Dancer ,Choreographer and creative artist. She has created 7 original multi-faceted dance pieces since 2011 that performed in different professional festivals and dance venue's in Israel for women only.

Gitty loves to create and express movement that flows from within out as a pure connection to oneself and God ,to use that powerful movement to connect to each other -fellow women from all sectors of klal yisroel and beyond - as soul sisters bridging beyond our differencies. Empower each other and move closer in harmony .

Chaya Lester

Chaya Lester is a seasoned psychotherapist, Jewish educator, author & spiritual guide; passionate about using Torah for healing & transformation. Chaya holds an Ivy League BA in Religious Studies and MA in Clinical Psychology. She also did extensive doctoral work at Oxford University on the theme of ‘Experiential Torah Learning’. As co-director of Jerusalem’s Shalev Center for Jewish Personal Growth, Chaya offers individual and couple’s therapy as well as classes and retreats.
